1. The principle
Paragraphs translates whatever content you put into it. We don't read every unit before it's translated. We rely on this AUP and on the law to keep the service from being used in ways that harm people.
2. What's prohibited
- Illegal content — anything that is unlawful in the jurisdiction where it will be published or where it is created.
- Child sexual abuse material — zero tolerance. Suspected CSAM is reported to NCMEC and/or IWF as required by law.
- Content designed to defraud — phishing pages, fake invoices, impersonation of legitimate businesses.
- Instructions for weapons — chemical, biological, radiological, nuclear, or conventional weapons capable of mass casualty.
- Self-harm or suicide promotion — content encouraging or providing instructions for self-harm.
- Targeted harassment — content designed to harass an identifiable individual or small group.
- Malicious code distribution — translating instructions or copy that primarily distribute malware.
- Spam — translating bulk unsolicited content for unsolicited mass distribution.
3. Enforcement
If we detect an AUP breach we'll contact the organisation admin and give 7 days to remediate, except where the breach involves CSAM, fraud, or imminent harm — in which case we may suspend service immediately. Severe or repeated violations may result in termination per the master agreement.
4. Reporting abuse
If you see content translated through Paragraphs that appears to breach this AUP, report it to abuse@paragraphs.co.uk. Include URLs, a description, and any evidence. We acknowledge within 24 hours and investigate within 7 days.
5. Lawful intercept
We comply with valid legal process from authorities in jurisdictions where we operate. We push back on overbroad requests and require formal legal process for content disclosure. Where law permits, we notify affected Customers before disclosing their data.
6. Government / regulated use
For regulated industries (healthcare, financial services, education with minor data), use of the public SaaS may be unsuitable; Enterprise self-hosted is the recommended path. Contact sales@paragraphs.co.uk.
